Just booked: Tim Robbins, The Yardbirds, and Blackfoot!
I've got all sorts of stuff to talk about today as well as some killer new shows to announce this week! Get comfortable because it's going to be a long email---
First off, I'm thinking about getting a bus (well renting one actually) that picks people up at a local park-n-ride and takes them to the new Vermont venue for select shows. A real bus---not a school bus. Our shows sell out so fast here but they're a bit slower up there. I was wondering if this was something that anyone would be interested in? I think it would be a lot of fun and we could party a bit on the way up, watch the show, and then come back together. It would either be free or be a very nominal charge. Please let me know your thoughts and whether this is something you'd be interested in.
I'm pretty psyched about this week's bookings. All of these shows are going to be great. I'm looking forward to meeting Tim Robbins. He's always been one of my favorite actors and his music is really good.
We've booked THREE great new shows this week!
July 31 Tim Robbins and The Rogues Gallery
Sept 4 The Yardbirds
Sept 16 Blackfoot
I hope you are all having a spectacular week.

OF NOTESPECIAL SHOW!
On Saturday, May 7, The Capitol Center for The Arts is having Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience. Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience is an intimate journey that celebrates the life of the legendary drummer John Bonham and the music of Led Zeppelin. The show provides an insider's view along with personal anecdotes narrated by Jason, that weave through over 2 hours of classic Zeppelin tunes. The band's passion for the music is evident as they perform in front of a giant wall of video screens that display futuristic art and mood-setting historical video footage and photos. How do I know so much about this show? I helped them get it and I think it's going to be amazing!
DRINKERY NOTES by JoanieHi everyone,
You're going to see some new faces in the Beer and Wine Store because I have officially sold my business to some very wonderful people interested in keeping the Drinkery going. I've just run out of time and figured that getting my free time back was in order. Besides that, I'm working closely with Scott now on Tupelo stuff and that is taking up a bunch of my time. I will miss seeing you all but I'll still be around for some shows.
We are having a wine tasting with Zorvino Vineyards on Friday, April 22 from 6-8. Come visit us before the show and say "Hi" to the new owners, Alana Wentworth and Andy Day!

OUR NEXT LONDONDERRY SHOWSApril 20 BRENDAN JAMES
With his warm, rich tenor and emotionally powerful songs, Brendan James announced himself as an artist-to-watch on his dazzling debut album, "The Day Is Brave". Influenced by the understated simplicity of the Carly Simon, James Taylor, and Carole King records he grew up with, James knew he wanted his debut to sound natural and unaffected. James has played with Carly Simon, Joss Stone, Corrine Bailey Rae, Robert Cray, and Keb Mo, among others.
April 22 COLIN HAY
This Show is SOLD OUT
April 23 BEATLEJUICE
The number of Beatle Tribute bands is probably countless, but in New England, at least, none come more highly praised, critiqued or recommended than Beatle Juice. This band has taken on a history of its own. Their talent and showmanship go far beyond the norm in tribute bands. Sadly, with the recent passing of singer Brad Delp, their legacy draws even closer to that of the Fab Four's.
April 25 WISHBONE ASH
Wishbone Ash is a British rock band who achieved success in the early and mid-1970s. Their popular records included Wishbone Ash , Argus, There's the Rub , and New England . They were one of the first of many bands to come who used twin lead guitars.
Wishbone Ash is considered to be one of the major innovators of the harmony twin lead guitar format. Their contributions helped in Powell and Turner being voted "Two Of The Ten Most Important Guitarists In Rock History" (Traffic magazine 1989), and part of the "Top 20 Guitarists Of All Time" (Rolling Stone). Melody Maker (1972) described Ted Turner and Andy Powell as "the most interesting two guitar team since the days when Beck and Page graced The Yardbirds".
NEW LONDONDERRY BOOKINGSJuly 31 TIM ROBBINS and The Rogues Gallery Band
Everyone knows Tim Robbins as an actor, screenwriter, director, producer and activist. He is widely known for his roles as Nuke in Bull Durham, Andy Dufresne in The Shawshank Redemption, and as Dave Boyle in Mystic River, for which he won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Who knows him for having budding musical career with his band The Rogues gallery?
This is going to be a really fun show. Tim's music is a blend of folk and blues. Tim's songwriting skills and his band are really good. This show is history in the making! Listen (Player will load a few moments after page does).
Sept. 4 THE YARDBIRDS
The Yardbirds are an English rock band that had a string of hits in the mid 1960s, including "For Your Love", "Over Under Sideways Down" and "Heart Full of Soul". The group is notable for having started the careers of three of rock's most famous guitarists: Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy Page, all of whom were in the top fifteen of Rolling Stone's 100 Top Guitarists list. A blues-based band that broadened its range into pop and rock, The Yardbirds were pioneers in guitar innovations of the '60s: fuzz tone, feedback, distortion, backwards echo, improved amplification, etc. Pat Pemberton, writing for Spinner, holds that the Yardbirds were "the most impressive guitar band in rock music". After the Yardbirds broke up in 1968, their current lead guitarist Jimmy Page founded what became Led Zeppelin.
The current band lineup is Andy Mitchell- lead vocals, harmonica, Ben King - lead guitar, Chris Dreja - rhythm guitar, backing vocals, David Smale- bass guitar, Jim McCarty - drums, backing vocals. Listen
Sept. 16 BLACKFOOT
Blackfoot was formed in Jacksonville, Florida in the Fall of 1969 by childhood friends Greg T. Walker (bass and vocals), Rickey Medlocke (lead vocals and percussion), Jakson Spires (drums and vocals), DeWitt Gibbs (keyboards and vocals), and Charlie Hargrett (lead guitar). Originally called "Hammer," they played their first major concert performance at the Miami International Rock Festival in December 1969.
After going through a few changes, the original Blackfoot line-up reformed in the Spring of 1973. They spent the next 10 years touring the world with top rock acts of the day and recording the albums "No Reservations," "Flying High," "Strikes," which produced the Grammy nominated "Train, Train" and rock anthem "Highway Song"; "Tomcattin," "Marauder," which contained the radio hit "Fly Away" and "Siogo" which spawned the hit "Teenage Idol" . Rickey kept the band going under the moniker "Rickey Medlocke and Blackfoot" with different line-ups until 1996. Medlocke then re-joined Skynryd, replacing guitarist Mike Estes.
By mid-2004 there was considerable demand for a Blackfoot reunion. Greg T. called Jakson, Charlie and Bobby, and arrangements were made for Blackfoot's reformation.
Tragically, Jakson Spires passed away on March 16th, 2005. Greg and Charlie called former Skynyrd guitarist/vocalist Mike Estes who, along with new drummer Kurt Pietro, was an old friend and had played with them on various all-star gigs all over the USA. This line-up is currently gigging and tearing it up! Listen
